    Senior Manager Insights and Analytics

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Senior Manager: Insights and Analytics will be responsible for monitoring, tracking and analysing economic, public policy, legislative and regulatory trends to provide insights to support regulatory risk management.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    The Senior Manager: Insights and  Analytics will be responsible for:

    • Providing regulatory input into business strategy 
    • Monitoring and analysis of pending legislation and regulations that may impact the company’s operations, and alerts management.
    • Provide input into proposed regulatory policies/legislation ensuring MTN’s Group and operational interests are considered.
    • Monitor and review regulatory issues including regulatory compliance across MTN Group.
    • Provide detailed research and benchmarking for purposes of developing MTN’s position in response to legislative and policy changes from time to time.
    • Driving industry initiatives through industry bodies and with industry stakeholders including.
    • Develop and implement impact assessments of proposed regulatory frameworks on sustainability of business operations.
    • Manage third party vendors for intelligence and insights.
    • Support the Economic and Regulatory teams with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements. 

    Key Deliverables

    • Analyse economic, political, socio economic and regulatory trends to provide relevant insights and support MTN’s business strategy and market positioning.
    • Consolidation, monitoring (first line) and reporting of Group wide Regulatory risks, issues and positioning.
    • Build data and analytics-based insights to support a broader stakeholder engagement and communications programme.
    • Develop data and economic analysis to complement legislative analysis.
    • Create a central knowledge repository and adequate peer to peer review across MTN Group.

    Role Dependencies

    • In-depth understanding of the MTN business strategy 
    • Effective stakeholder relationship management and experience in a regulatory environment
    • Understanding of the Opco technology, business and regulatory context

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education:

    • Degree in   Economics, Business Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or similar discipline
    • Postgraduate Qualification
    • MBA or master’s advantageous.
    • Fluent in English and language of country preferable

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 Years’ experience in research, data analytics, economic/value modelling and/or report writing   
    • Removed the part on SQL and programming requirements. 
    • Experience researching, analysing & reporting, to make recommendations for future strategy for business units.
    • Experience with programming & advanced Excel for data manipulation, extraction and modelling, word, and PowerPoint skills with high attention to detail and building dashboards for reporting.
    • Experience working with large volumes of data/information.
    • Experience importing and exporting data and ensuring regular cleansing to ensure data integrity.
    • Experience with reporting tools, including Power BI & building automated reports.
    • Experience providing advice and recommendations based on data analysis conducted.
    • The ability to multi-task and report on regulatory and public policy analyses in agreed deadlines.
    • High level of interpersonal skills and working to tight timelines and frameworks.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Able to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships.
    • Experience in telecoms environment including “hands-on” regulatory compliance, strategy and or operational reporting is an advantage.
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization.
    • In depth experience and understanding of the telecoms and digital industries or an equivalent regulated sector. 
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies is an advantage.
