Job Purpose

The Senior Microbiologist plays a crucial role in performing all analytical activities.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

• Relevant tertiary qualification with BSc or a National Diploma in a microbiological field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a microbiological laboratory

Job Specification

• To execute work timeously, ethically and efficiently.
• Full awareness of the policies and practices of the company as specified in the current Quality Management Manuals.
• Adherence to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality policies and instructions.
• Upkeep of the equipment usage.
• Testing various products for evaluation as allocated.
• Conduct quality control tests on laboratory equipment and media.
• To calibrate instruments according to requirements when instructed to do so.
• To ensure that protective clothing and safety items are worn and used.
• Competency in testing and.
• Must know methods and be able to carry them out competently, as well as taking part in validations and proficiency testing.
• Prepare and update SOPs.
• Interpret results and generate accurate reports according to specified methods and procedures.
• Ensure results are reported on time and maintain good TAT.
• Maintain GLP in the microbiology laboratory.
• Continuous improvement of the methods and processes within the microbiology laboratory.
• Training of Junior staff.
• To maintain confidentiality of all Bureau Veritas Group information.
