    Marine & Offshore Sales and Marketing Officer

    Introduction

    The job incumbent has overall responsibility to lead the business development and sales within the SEA District. She/he will also assist the Regional Business Development Manager Marine in his tasks to develop the regional sales, through direct contact and marketing campaign. She/he has also the responsibility to assist the Regional Managers in their administrative and logistic activities.

    Marine Surveyor-Cape Town

    Job Responsibilities

    • Performing Classification-, Statutoryand Cargo Gearsurveys
    • Reporting to the South and East Africa District Manager, based in Durban.

    The ideal candidate would have excellent knowledge of ship design and construction, ship repair, maintenance and operations and a good understanding of classification and statutory requirements.     VOC Technical Officer 1

    Role Purpose Statement: 

    • He/She manages technical aspects and files of Verification of Conformity (VOC) of the office.
    • He/She performs the job within the framework of the BV Quality Assurance System, ISO 9001, ISO 17020, the Code of Ethics, Three absolutes (Safety, Financial Control & Ethics) and the BV Group policy

    MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Technical education Certificate or degree level in Engineering or standards background or experience (at least 2 months) in VOC procedures or equivalent
    • PC skills
    • Basic knowledge of product conformity assessments
    • Knowledge of types of discrepancies (detected during document review, inspection and/or testing)
    • Master review of conformity documents
    • Ability to deal with difficult situations.
    • English proficiency
    • Communication skills
    • Good knowledge about product conformity assessment procedures or at least BV VOC procedures

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Verification of Quality Documents as per the procedures and country requirements.
    • Technical Officers are responsible for the efficient and timely execution of the expertise assigned. It includes the responsibility of complying with the local IO CBCA (VOC) Expertise procedure (GSIT RSA IO 113) procedure
    • Implementation of VOC procedures and instructions
    • Follow-up of VOC procedures and check quality of work flow.
    • Review Updates on Procedures/PICL/PCS etc… in connections
    • Identification of the applicable standards and requirements
    • Documents comparison (during Conformity Document review and also IR against Considered Conformity Documents)
    • Confirmation of the products and shipments are subject to the program
    • Give clear instructions to Inspectors regarding Samples, Instructions/PICLs and photo requirements
    • Check inspection reports/PICLs/photos once received and ask for corrective actions if required
    • Give instructions for certificate issuance (if any specific comment or care is needed)
    • Acquisition and maintenance of a good knowledge of the VOC market.
    • Coordination with RC/LO/HO for VOC activities
    • Contribution to the good co-ordination between BV technical services and the customers (Explain technical issues to exporters / importers, if required).
    • Review of Control test reports (when control testing has been requested)
    • Continuous acquisition and maintenance of technical knowledge of the VOC procedures.
    • Consult BV GSIT’s internal knowledge management tools for update of VoC procedure/specific applicable for different programmes referred to WTO/ISO websites, as applicable
    • Reporting of discrepancies and difficulties met in reaching quality goals / time schedules to VOC Manager.
