Job Purpose

The Microbiologist plays a crucial role in performing all analytical activities.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

• Relevant tertiary qualification with BSc or a National Diploma in a microbiological field
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a microbiological laboratory

Job Specification

• To execute work timeously, ethically and efficiently.
• To be fully aware of the policies and practices of the company as specified in the current Quality Management Manuals.
• Adhering to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality policies and instructions.
• Upkeep of the equipment usage.
• To test various products for evaluation as allocated.
• To conduct quality control tests on laboratory equipment and media.
• To calibrate instruments according to requirements when instructed to do so.
• To ensure that protective clothing and safety items are worn and used.
• Perform proficiency testing.
• Discard and co-ordinate retention samples through the Operational Manager and Operational Supervisor.
• Attend Training Sessions according to Training Schedules.
• To be deemed competent, be able to comply with the following competency criteria.
• Must know methods and be able to carry them out competently.
• Must know departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• To maintain good housekeeping and to keep workplace clean and tidy.
• To maintain confidentiality of all Bureau Veritas Group information and that of its customers.
