    Senior Mining Business Analyst

    • The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role in analysing, optimising, and implementing business and operational systems within a mining environment. The role focuses on ensuring that mining operations, production systems, and supporting business processes are fully understood, effectively digitised, and continuously improved.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Analyse and document mining operational processes (production, maintenance, safety, logistics, planning.

    • Identify and define system requirements that enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
    • Liaise with operational teams, engineers, geologists, supervisors, and control room staff to refine business needs.
    • Document interfaces between new and existing mining systems, operational databases, and legacy platform.
    • Collaborate with IT, OT teams, vendors, and developers to deliver and enhance mining systems.
    • Validate system changes through testing in production, plant, or fleet management contexts.
    • Train end users (operators, controllers, supervisors) and provide system support.
    • Ensure alignment with project timelines, budgets, safety requirements and governance.
    • Remain up to date with mining digitalisation trends and enabling technologies.
    • Manage relationships with OEMs, system vendors, and technology partners to optimise integration.
    • Design, document, and improve end-to-end mining value chain processes.
    • Report on recurring system or operational issues and recommend improvements to stakeholders.
    • Communicate key insights and findings to operational leaders, engineering teams, and project sponsors.
    • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance operational visibility, reduce downtime, and improve safety and productivity.

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

    • Tertiary degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant field (IT, Engineering, Mining, or Project Management).
    • 7+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst.
    • Proven experience in eliciting requirements, process mapping, and system testing.
    • Exposure to mining production systems, maintenance systems, safety systems, or ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Pronto, EAM).
    • Ability to read and interpret SQL queries.
    • Experience generating functional specifications, technical documentation, and process flows.
    • Strong ability to translate operational mining needs into system requirements.
    • Experience in project management or team leadership roles, particularly in mining or heavy industry environments.
