Senior Project Engineer, Execution Electrical at Exxaro Resources

PURPOSE:

Responsible for all technical and engineering aspects a project. To plan, schedule, predict, and manage all the technical tasks of their assigned project to assure accuracy, proper resources, and quality from start to finish. To deliver expert technical support in engineering discipline in projects. To monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications. Interacting daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and representing them in the field.

Minimum Requirements    

QUALIFICATIONS:

• B Tech Electrical Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
• Management Development Programme (Recommended/Desirable)
• Certificate Project Management (Recommended/Desirable)
• BEng Electrical Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)

EXPERIENCE: 

• 6-8 years  Maintenance, Hazard identification, Risk assessment, Procurement, Project Engineering, Contract and Project Management(Essential/Minimum) Operational

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Engineering Council of SA (PrEng) (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities    

Best Practice and Knowledge Management 

• Protection of Intellectual property
• Participate in engineering forums, tertiary educational relationships, professional external forums, relevant Communities of Practice (CoP's) and in any innovation processes

Budget and Cost Control 

• Manage cost recovery
• Design for efficiency
• Manage own expenditure
• Manage project capital budget

Business Performance and Operations 

• Support service delivery within department and project budget parameters
• Technical contribution in individual skill area based on sound principles
• Increase awareness of tech advancements to ensure access to appropriate technology to meet business deliverables and can expand technical base to access new areas of business.
• Ensure design for reliability and maintainability
• Adhere to appropriate quality management systems
• Ensure skills and technology communication to business units

Compliance, Governance and Assurance 

• Support technology capabilities involved in project execution and delivery within Engineering discipline
• Ensure compliance to sound engineering standards and quality
• Ensure a standardized approach to service delivery is followed within discipline
• Ensure compliance to all standards, specifications, and procedures of the Company and the Business Unit (BU)

Customer and Client Relationship Management 

• Provide expert technical support and direction to project teams and business units
• Identify needs and support line management with technical issues
