Roles and Responsibilities:

The Test Automation Engineer (Senior) is accountable for automating the testing process, adequately identifying and testing the business functional requirements to fulfillment and ensuring that defects are resolved. The role also defines, Implements and drives a Test Automation culture within the DHS environment; supporting the CI/CD Devops strategy. The role involves coaching and mentoring within the team contributing to the continuous improvement of the Test process and methodologies.

The successful candidate will be required to perform but not limited to the following key outputs in respect of the Support Systems Management portfolio:

Test Strategy

• Defining and applying test standards & guidelines through test automation

• Defining the test vision and test strategy

• Defining the test automation framework

Test Data

• Test Data requirements must be recorded for test cases during the test case creation process

• Source and record correct test data for Test Cases

Test Schedule

• Understand and confirm acceptance on responsibilities, deliverables and timelines

• Provide scheduling input to the Test Manager

• Document the test coverage and produce a test schedule

• Communicate the frequency of test deployments

• Arrange access to the test environment

Test Results

• Ensure adequate controls are established and adequate testing is completed for all new development and enhancements to existing applications

• Build and maintain a repository of regression test cases using JIRA X-ray

• Ensure test status results are properly documented and tracked and software defects are reported clearly

• Generate and maintain defect/bug/error/problem database or reports as needed (JRIA X-ray).

• Review and validate defects logged.

• Log, Track and Resolve defects on JIRA X-ray

• Generate monthly report tracking automated vs manual testing and success ratio

Skills Required:

• Informatics or relevant degree (Honor's degree – beneficial)

• Advanced UML course, BPMN Course, PM training or qualification

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a BA (beneficial is experienced in testing)

• Business experience and product knowledge is advantageous

• Knowledge of ITIL, CMMI, PCMM

• Technical knowledge of SQL, UML, XML, OO

• Knowledge of software architecture, facilitating JAD sessions, data modelling techniques, industry compliance and legislation.
