RPO Recruitment's client, a leading civil and building contractor in Gauteng is seeking an experienced and qualified Senior Site Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Johannesburg as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
Measure, Compile and Manage a Bill of Quantities
Obtain necessary estimates from subcontractors and suppliers
Review, evaluate and adjudicate quotes and tenders received
Compile complete civils and construction tender for submission to clients
Ensure and obtain authorisation to submit to Tender Senior
Negotiate with both the client and subcontractors on best solutions
Evaluate and calculate any changes, variation order, request for changes from client effectively
Performing risk, value management and cost control
Tendering out specific trades and disciplines, evaluate, adjudicate and negotiate for best award
Management of project finance in collaboration with project team
Draw up and manage cashflow according to program and site production
Collaboration with procurement team to source best pricing
Submission of complete material lists to procurement and manage ordering of materials
Assess monthly and fortnightly payments to be certified
Compiling and submitting monthly payment claims to development managers
Draw up construction contracts as well as subcontractor contracts and management of these
Requirements:
BTech/BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying
5 - 8 years’ experience in a similar role working for reputable firms
Residential construction experience essential
Proficiency in CCS Candy and BuildSmart essential
Driver’s License and own transport
Accuracy with figures/calculations
Strong numerical aptitude with the ability to perform quick and accurate calculations
Proven ability to work under pressure, manage tight schedules, and meet strict deadlines
Skilled in interpreting construction drawings and technical documentation
Bilingual: Fluent in both Afrikaans and English (spoken and written) (non-negotiable)
Working knowledge of structural and civil engineering principles is advantageous
Confident decision-maker, able to take initiative and assume responsibility for outcomes
