Senior Specialist - Group Investment Asset Reporting at Momentum Metropolitan Holdings Limited

Role Purpose    

• To provide specialist Unitisation and Asset-based Taxes services within an operational environment.

Requirements    

• Relevant B-Commerce degree
• Minimum 7 years working experience in financial services preferably Asset Management and Life Insurance
• In-depth understanding of financial instruments
• Understanding of asset management administration systems
• In-depth understanding of South African Income Tax Act

Duties & Responsibilities    
Asset-based Taxes

• To check the financial investment asset reporting data provided to GIS by source data providers for reason-ability, completeness, and accuracy.
• To check that all queries are either explained satisfactorily or corrected by the effected business areas as relevant.
• To maintain a high level of technical competence with regards to the tax consequences of investing in various financial instruments viz. capital gains tax, dividend withholdings tax and Section 24J treatment of income.
• To maintain a high level of knowledge of investment assets to present meaningful analysis and information on request and to facilitate the identification of errors through reasonability checks.
• To maintain a high level of accuracy and adherence to deadlines in terms of compiling and providing reporting in terms of Service Level Agreements and Group reporting deadlines.
• Preparation for monthly meetings with Group Tax and the Asset-based Taxes vendor.
• Monitor and resolve queries between source providers, Group Tax and the Asset-based Taxes vendor.
• Perform monthly reconciliations.

Unitisation Operations

• Ensure that client flows are processed correctly and timeously according to defined procedures and processes.
• Assist in the matching of client flows to the bank account.
• Ensure that all client withdrawal transactions are paid to clients within standard turnaround times.
• Complete Daily & Monthly business checklists.
• Assist other team members with workload when needed.
• Maintaining Interlink databases by performing Day end procedures and attending to client reporting (Finswitch as well as other distribution mechanisms).
• General daily and monthly reporting to clients.
• Assist with general ad hoc tasks.

General

• Audit liaison with internal and external audit during interim and year end reporting periods.
• Functional and user acceptance testing of all relevant systems as and when required.
• Documenting processes and procedures.
• Data/Client query resolution.
• Active involvement with various strategic initiatives.
• All other ad hoc tasks that may be required from time to time.
