Senior Specialist: M-pesa FPA and Compliance at Vodacom

Role Purpose

The Senior Specialist: M-Pesa Financial Planning & Analysis, and Compliance role is based within Finance.
Ensure effective financial planning, reporting and compliance for the Vodacom portion of the M-Pesa Africa joint venture with Safaricom, including compliance of the M-Pesa business in each of Vodacom’s IB markets (DRC, Tanzania, Mozambique, Lesotho) as well as VF Ghana.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Manage the forecasting processes (Budget, LRP and Rolling Forecast) for the Vodacom portion of the M-Pesa Africa JV;
• Deliver insightful management information to support decision-making, monthly profit & loss and variance analysis from information gathered from FPA Heads in all IB markets, VF Ghana as well as the JV holding company.
• Manage interface and delivery from Fin Ops to ensure a sound system of finance operational controls are maintained;
• Preparation of audit committee and BOD reports for the SA JV. Support the holding company in the preparation of annual financial statements and reports;
• Keep abreast of legislation governing the
• M-Pesa business. Ensure business decisions are executed within the governance framework;
• Work with the Group and Local Market risk and compliance teams in ensuring that an effective controls programme is implemented to ensure compliance with laws and regulations of the company;
• Ad hoc duties and project work from time to time.

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

• Matric
• B.Com (Hons) degree or equivalent.
• Proven professional with a minimum of 7 years’ financial experience at senior level,
• Proven track record in finance modelling, budgets and compliance,
• Proven experience with implementing, evaluating, and monitoring internal controls,
• Telecoms industry experience would be an advantage,
• Good understanding of SAP & Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) would be an advantage.
• Internal Audit or compliance experience would be an advantage.
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure
• Excellent English communication skills- both oral and written
• Ability to liaise with senior management
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with an emphasis on the ability to influence and persuade and negotiate at all levels.
• Strong financial analysis and reporting capabilities
