Senior Systems Engineer 

A new opportunity exists for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT Operations team based in Cape Town. The purpose of this role is to provide IT support to all Mukuru staff. The Senior Systems Engineer reports directly to the IT Manager.

This position is responsible for providing general IT support to staff by installing, monitoring, supporting, providing advice and maintaining the computers, servers and networks to enable users to function efficiently with regard to their day-to-day tasks. The Senior Systems Engineer is also responsible for providing coaching and mentoring to Junior Engineers, as well as to manage IT projects and delegate tasks to junior team members. Internal liaison takes place with all internal staff. External liaison takes place with all 3rd party suppliers.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but is not limited to):

• To provide general IT support to Mukuru staff to ensure problems are resolved efficiently
• To setup, support and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, networks and applications to ensure optimal usage
• To travel to Mukuru branches to carry out installations or upgrade
• To provide ad hoc support to the IT team when required
• To mentor and upskill the Junior Engineers
• To take ownership of assigned IT projects and follow through to completion
• Delegate project work to juniors and guide them to completion while maintaining ownership of the project
• To manage own professional and self-development

Key Requirements:

• Grade 12 / or equivalent (Essential)
• Degree / Diploma in IT or related field (Essential)
• MCSE qualification (Essential)
• 5+ years’ experience in Systems Engineering or similar (Essential)
• 1+ years’ experience in coaching and mentoring of junior team members
• G-Suite Admin Certification (Desirable)
• Azure Admin Certification (Desirable)
• Firewall Certification (Desirable)
• Knowledge of network principles
• Knowledge of Linux
• Knowledge of general IT hardware and systems
• Knowledge of firewalls and security principles
• Knowledge of Microsoft servers, Azure and Active Directory
• Knowledge of cloud systems, Azure and G-Suite
