Service Technician (Fixed Term Contract) at Buckman

A FTC Service Technician position has become available in the IWT Division based in Vanderbijlpark. This position is available from April to December 2023.

Qualifications

• Suitable candidates will have Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science.
• National Certificate/Diploma in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering will be advantageous.

Experience

• A Suitable applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the industrial water treatment and/or process industry.
• Computer literacy, basic proficiency in Microsoft packages and understanding of business systems is a necessity.
• The successful candidate will be a people-person, practically orientated, able to handle pressure, a problem solver and a team member who is self-motivated. They must be able to communicate at all levels, be organized and self disciplined.
• They must be prepared to travel and therefore a valid driver’s license is a key requirement and a copy is required with the application. The incumbent must be physically fit and able to work under pressure within the heavy industrial sector and at physically challenging plants.

Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

• Account Management - Ensure product stewardship of a specific account/accounts by conducting all activities in accordance with Buckman Management Standards (“The Buckman Way”)
• Technical Services - Ensure existing applications and equipment are maintained and technical services are performed to ensure optimal performance;
• SHERQ Management - Maintain and improve SHERQ performance to deliver targeted sales at the lowest possible risk to the company.
• Basic daily duties will include (but will not be limited to) the following;
• Filling of dosing tanks from chemical storage area/s
• Daily checks (and adjustments where required) of all dosing equipment
• Weekly sampling off all treated systems
• Weekly and monthly Plant Service Reports (PSR)
• Daily safety meeting
• Condition monitoring
• Application for HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) acceptance and sign-off (this may take up to 2 hours per HIRA)
• Housekeeping in our chemical storage area as well as our analyses container
• CO fan area dosing checks – according to HFC safety rules, always 2x people required
