Service Technician at Phakisa Group

Role Overview

• The technician will assist with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of commercial catering and laundry equipment. The role is hands-on and field-based, working under the guidance of senior technicians and service managers, with responsibility increasing as skills and reliability are proven.
• This role is suited to someone who enjoys practical work, problem-solving, and learning in a real-world technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of catering and laundry equipment on client sites
• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
• Support fault-finding and basic diagnostics on electrical, mechanical, and gas equipment
• Assist with commissioning of new equipment
• Complete service reports and job cards accurately
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles responsibly
• Communicate professionally with clients while on site
• Escalate technical issues or safety concerns promptly to senior technicians

Equipment Exposure

• Depending on experience, the technician may work on:
• Commercial ovens, ranges, fryers, and grills
• Dishwashers and warewashing equipment
• Refrigeration equipment
• Professional laundry machines
• Gas and electrical appliances (within certification limits)

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Technical qualification or trade exposure in:
• Electrical
• Mechanical
• Refrigeration
• Mechatronics
• or a related field
• 0–3 years’ experience in a technical or service role (junior candidates welcome)Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systemsValid driver’s license (essential)Willingness to travel to client sites
