Shaft Sinking Mine Overseer X 1 REF:IVP-SSMO-2501 at Ivanhoe Mines

Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering
• Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency (Mandatory)
• Blasting Certificate (Underground)
• Safety and First Aid certification
• Leadership and people management
• Operational and strategic planning
• Risk assessment and problem solving
• Communication and stakeholder engagement
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mining-specific software

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: 

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in underground mining, including shaft sinking operations
• Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams in a mining project environment
• Proven track record in delivering complex shaft sinking projects

Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Ensure full compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act; conduct inspections, lead safety meetings, and enforce corrective actions
• Plan, organise, and direct shaft sinking activities including drilling, blasting, lining, and equipping
• Allocate resources, monitor progress against schedule, and ensure quality standards are met
• Supervise and mentor shift supervisors and crews; conduct performance appraisals and provide training
• Prepare operational plans; coordinate with other departments and ensure material/equipment availability
• Monitor and control budget; identify cost-saving measures and ensure efficient resource use
