SHE Manager at AVI Limited

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Health Management:

• Ensure site compliance with the OHS Act and relevant regulations, including legal appointments and SHE committee functions.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement programs to mitigate risks effectively.
• Lead behavior-based safety initiatives and maintain visible safety leadership.
• Report on and investigate all incidents and near misses.
• Maintain ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 accreditations and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee contractor management, including inductions and compliance.
• Coordinate occupational hygiene surveys and develop improvement action plans.
• Conduct safety audits and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.

Environmental and Waste Management:

• Ensure compliance with NEMA and related regulations, managing aspects and impacts of environmental requirements.
• Oversee waste management and emissions contractor performance, implementing strategies for waste reduction.
• Report on and manage water and energy usage, driving sustainability initiatives.

Emergency, Fire, Risk, and Security Management:

• Develop and implement emergency response protocols and conduct regular drills.
• Manage access control systems and collaborate with security contractors to enhance site safety.
• Participate in audits and investigations related to security incidents.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience: 5-10 years in a manufacturing environment (FMCG preferred), with 3-5 years in a mid-senior SHE management role.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related legislation. ISO 45000 and ISO 14000 auditor status is advantageous.
• Education: BTech / BSc in Safety, Occupational Health, or Environmental Management.
