    SHE Risk Practitioner

    Job Description

    Your role as a SHE Practitioner will be a critical function at Polokwane Smelter. This includes the initiation, coordination, implementation, facilitation and quality checks of all operational risk assessments. You will be planning and coordinating the integrated risk management to all aspects of the operations risk profile and execute against the SHE risk & assurance supporting processes, systems and standard procedures. Your responsibility will be to conduct SHE incident investigations and to prevent catastrophic incidents in line with the groups format and its targets. Part of this role will be to advise the operational team on the skills development plan and programs required to enhance the skills and competencies of employees and contractors alike. You will also plan and coordinate an annual operational risk assessment and revision program in order to achieve excellence in Risk Assessments. This role is in the SHE - Safety department at a D1 level reporting to the SHE Manager.

    Qualifications
    You will need:

    • Matric (Grade 12) or N3 equivalent
    • National Diploma or Degree in either Safety, Occupational Health & Environment
    • Risk/Hazard/Legislative/Assurance/Audit – Certificate
    • Registration with OHSAS – Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, SAIOH – Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene and IOSM - Institute of Occupational Safety Management
    • Course in management systems / Understanding of these systems; ISO 14001, 45001 or ISO 9001 – advantageous

    Experience:

    • 3 - 5 years relevant Mining /Process /Engineering experience
    • Extensive knowledge and experience on multiple Risk Assessment Techniques: (BOW-TIE, WRAC/SWIFT, HAZOP, FMECA, AFRAD)
    • Safety, Occupational Health & Hygiene, Environmental Management
    • SHE Incident investigation (Loss Causation / ICAM / RCAT / SCAT / AICAT)

    Additional Requirements:

    • Must be able to work standby shifts
    • Valid Driver’s license – advantageous, occasional traveling will be required
    • Basic Computer Skills (MS Office suite)
