Shift Supervisor at Bureau Veritas Group

Introduction

• Bureau Veritas Inspectorate Laboratories (Pty) Ltd is recruiting a Shift Supervisor. The position is based in Richards Bay Port and reporting to the Senior Supervisor.The Shift Supervisor’s responsibility is to ensure the smooth running of BV’s sampling operations in Richards Bay.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

• Matric with Maths and Science
• Valid drivers license
• Medically and physically able to work in an industrial environment

Accountability

• To make sure that all BV workstations are attended to.
• Ensure that every Sampler on shift is assigned their duties and that these duties are carried out in accordance with the relevant procedure.
• Enforce the appropriate use, storage and maintenance of PPE by sampling Inspectors at all times.
• Report all staff problems to Management; notify Management of poor time keeping, signing on duty late, leaving early, sleeping on duty, ill-discipline etc.
• Follow up on shipping instructions and instruction amendments before the start of shift.
• Ensure that the operation is running smoothly during his shift with zero contamination and report timeously to Client and Sampling Specialist any possible problems foreseen before or as they occur.
• Visit all BV workstations in the harbour and ensure that all Inspectors are carrying out their duties according to SOP during the shift.
• Ensure that all the samples are marked clearly and correctly.
• Truck tracing for products that BV has been nominated to do the sampling on.
• Ensure stockpile sampling and temperature monitoring are done.
• Ensure toolbox talks are done and signed by every team member.
• Ensure hazards and risks are identified and mitigated so that all work is done safely.
• To execute work timeously, ethically and efficiently.
• To maintain good maintenance, housekeeping and cleanliness of equipment utilised in the job.
• Follow reasonable instructions given by Management of Bureau Veritas.
