    Siting Solutions Engineer - South Africa Sandton

    Siting Solutions Department is a Technical-Sales unit support function accountable for providing fully optimized wind power plant layouts and turbine configurations that satisfy both internal requirements (lifetime, warranty, loading, safety, contribution margin maximization), as well as external requirements (LCoE, finance-ability, customer preferences).

    This position is responsible for developing project/customer Siting (Wind & Solar) solutions for South African projects. This includes providing direct support on the motivation, development, and presentation of solutions to Vestas customers up to, during and following the completion of Sales agreements.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop projects input and constraints – set up project scope, review and deliver results to relevant authorities/departments
    • Avail knowledge of Vestas turbines and regional wind conditions to provide support and expertise to all stakeholders
    • Examine market requirements and trends to promote product and projects development
    • Enable efficient interfaces between Sales, Technical Sales, Customers, Independent Engineers, and Central VPS Functions
    • Ensure knowledge sharing and collaborations across regional and Global Siting teams through coaching, mentoring, open and effective communication, also feedback sharing

    Qualificatons

    • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Physics, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Wind Power engineering (other degrees considered with experience)
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience completing energy and suitability analysis for industrial-scale wind power plants - including experience in a sales support role
    • Knowledge of operational performance assessments of wind and solar power plants, using WAsP, WindPro, OpenWind, CFD or Mesoscale modelling for wind power applications and PVSyst or SolarGIS for solar power plants
    • Knowledge of IEC standards for wind turbine design and completion of power performance testing
    • Knowledge of the various customer/market segments within South Africa, the main business case drivers for each segment, and typical strategies used by the major players in the market

    • Demonstration of ability to solve problems efficiently and methodically
    • Ability to work in a time-sensitive setting and multi-task in a fast paced/deadline-oriented environment
    • Great oral and written communication skills also organizational skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, solid communication skills and prior experience interacting with different internal and external stakeholders
    • Experience in completing financial analysis of proposed wind power and ancillary systems, also experience in supporting commercial negotiations
    • Proffesional presentation skills with ability and belief to present to business unit management
