Snr Architect Enterprise Architecture (ERP) at Sasol

Purpose of Job

• The Snr Architect Enterprise Architecture (ERP) is accountable for defining, communicating and steering Sasol’s ERP and related technology (e.g. ERP,CRM,SCM,Financial Management,etc.) domain ambitions and plans through technology visions, principles, roadmaps, transition states and associated guardrails (e.g. international and technology standards) for the delivery teams.
• The Snr Architect Enterprise Architecture (ERP) drives deep collaboration on the Portfolio level with the Principal Specialist Solution Architects through regular structured engagements (monthly meetings, one-to-one alignment sessions, etc.) and ad-hoc discussions. Together with the Principal Specialist Solution Architects across the Product Portfolios ensure the design of pragmatic and clear guardrails across Sasol, and drive the optimisation of ERP and related solutions and costs. The Snr Architect Enterprise Architecture (ERP oversees cross-Product and cross-Portfolio work related to the ERP domain, ensuring adherence to EA standards and leveraging fit-for-purpose technologies.
• Imagine and steer Sasol’s business ambition and plans for the ERP domain through technology visions, transformation roadmaps and associated guardrails for the delivery teams
• Drive innovation in conjunction with the portfolio teams for ERP technologies
• Evaluate and develop strategies and transition state plans for ERP technologies
• Work with Solution Architects on Portfolio and Product levels

Key Accountabilities

• Research and identify current and future critical ERP technologies and platforms through regular technology and demand planning exercises, studies on emerging technologies, market and competition trends, as well as strategic assessment regarding technology needed to support future business initiatives and requirements.
• Set standards that support ERP and related technology strategies and liaise with different digital, product, and portfolio teams to align strategies.
• Define and own the ERP and related technology roadmap. Coordinate with different digital, product, and portfolio teams to align roadmaps.
• Provide guidance to determine ERP solutions in line with business goals, IT strategy, and enterprise architecture standards.
• Oversee efforts across the enterprise to review and provide input into ERP proposals from an architectural perspective including feasibility, agility, practicality, technical viability, and consistency.
• Monitor efforts to assess and recommend ERP, related infrastructure, application standards, and solutions for improvements to meet business needs.
• Develop ERP domain principles that guide the production and implementation of ERP and related technologies.
• Lead efforts to understand ERP expenditure and how it maps to business objectives. Identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Manage the definition of ERP value metrics to facilitate the prioritisation of candidate investments such as return on investment and / or business impact.
• Articulate requirements and initial selection of potential vendors to participate in a sourcing event (e.g. RFP and e-Auction).
• Participate in the selection of key solutions that enable ERP strategy and architecture.
• Deliver technology-driven business insights to stakeholders and quantify value opportunities where possible.
• Sell the value of major needed ERP and related technology transformations to stakeholders through articulating the value of the transformation in business terms.
• Participate in the development of principles, visions, roadmaps, reference models, and guardrails of other architects and contribute to other architecture development efforts.
