Requirements & Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, with a specific emphasis on supply chain procurement contracts within the mining sector
• Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements, company/client policies, and industry standards
• Identify and assess legal risks associated with commercial contracts and provide strategic advice on risk mitigation
• Conduct negotiations with suppliers and other third parties to achieve favorable terms for clients
• Ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide practical solutions
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically in addressing legal and business challenges
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a legal team
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities efficiently

Minimum Criteria:

• Legal degree and admitted attorney with commercial contracting expertise
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a commercial/legal environment
• Cape Town based / willing to relocate immediately
• Proven track record of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts (within the procurement domain)
• Knowledge of the mining industry is beneficial
