Social Media Manager (Bushwise) - Hoedspruit, Limpopo at GVI

About the role

• The goal of the Social Media Manager is to take Bushwise’s social media presence to the next level. You will create dynamic content featuring wildlife, safari, location, human and conservation stories to help grow the Bushwise brand across our social platforms. This role is also responsible for delivering excellent customer service via community engagement, and reporting on social insights to the business.

Role and responsibilities:

Social expert

• Be one of  our internal experts on organic social media content, platforms, developments and trends
• Bring the latest insights and best practices to Bushwise to help grow our social reach and engagement
• Actively monitor social media for breaking news and trending topic opportunities and join these conversations quickly

Social strategy

• Collaborate with the Head of Brand Communications and team to design strategies for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn, focusing on rapid growth on Instagram and TikTok
• Roll out these platform strategies, creating unique, real, user-focused content

Videography and photography

• Capture and produce top-quality content (photos, videos, interviews, video testimonials, video staff bios, stories, Q&As, promotional videos, and more) ready for distribution across social media and other channels

Student and trainer content 

• Encourage, collect and edit content captured by students and staff on the Bushwise campuses – UGC will be central to the social strategy

Live content 

• Stream and/or post content collected from the Bushwise campuses and surrounds on social media 

Content planning and efficiency 

• Plan, create and schedule/post monthly content plans for all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
• Communicate clearly and timeously with the Operations team to ensure proper task management (Trello experience is ideal)

Community engagement 

• Responsible for community management across all social platforms, providing excellent customer service and growing Bushwise’s engagement with users

YouTube 

• Contribute to growing a successful YouTube channel

Bushwise ambassador 

• Collaborate positively with both the Bushwise campus team and the GVI Central Support Marketing team
• Train, support and assess Bushwise students on their own social media content creation when required
• Maintain professional, positive relationships with Bushwise students and staff

• Open communicator

Professional skills and experience:

• 2+ years of experience in a proven social media role
• A strong portfolio of work
