Software Development Manager at Capitec Bank

What you will be doing

• You will lead the end-to-end design and delivery of payment gateway capabilities tailored for device-based transactions. Your role will ensure full compliance with PCI DSS standards, safeguarding cardholder data through secure architecture and practices. You’ll manage switching logic and oversee seamless integrations with multiple platforms and acquirers. Additionally, you will guide EMV certification processes and optimize device-level transaction flows to support secure, efficient, and scalable payment experiences.

About the Role

• As the Software Development Manager - POS Payment Systems, within our Digital Merchant Commerce team, you will lead the development of our payment gateway and device integration platform. This role is central to enabling secure, real-time transactions across in-store channels. You’ll manage a team of skilled engineers focused on building scalable, high-performance systems that support device-based payments. 

Minimum Experience

• At least 5 years’ in software engineering leadership, preferably in fintech or payments.
• Deep understanding of PCI, EMV, and payment switching.
• Experience with SDK development for Android-based card machines
• Strong stakeholder engagement and mentoring capabilities.

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Information Technology - Computer Science
