Specialist: Ergonomist & Human Factors at Transnet

Position Purpose

• Provide direction and the implementation of the Transnet ergonomics management programmes from hazard identification, risk assessments, ergonomics surveys and audits across Transnet, as well conduct quality assurance assessments services to the Operating Divisions (ODs) and Specialist Units (SUs).
• Contribute technical specifications in the development, implementation, management, and maintenance of ergonomics procedures, guidelines, programmes and ensure the provision of high-quality ergonomics service.
• Responsible for the full implementation and maintenance of ergonomics programme at Transnet Group level and the embedding of ergonomics programmes across Transnet ODs.
• Specialist contributor to the development and driving of the ergonomics culture, which enables Transnet to provide and maintain safe working environment without uncontrolled ergonomics’ risks.
• Responsible for implementation and maintenance of risk based, and proactive preventative and solutions driven ergonomic programmes for comprehensive human factors/ergonomics management in Transnet.
• Implement ergonomics risk management and compliance plans, to address related risks and ensure compliance to applicable legislation

Qualifications and Experience

• BTech/B-Degree Occupational Hygiene or Human Factors/Ergonomics is required.
• Relevant postgraduate qualification in Human Factors/Ergonomics will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 6 - 8 years’ relevant experience and registered as an Occupational Hygienist or an Ergonomist with Ergonomics Society of South Africa.
• Legal knowledge certificate in Occupational Hygiene.
• Be registered with the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) as an Occupational Hygienist or Ergonomics Society of South Africa.
• Additional qualifications and experience in Ergonomic improvement projects in an industrial environment will be an added advantage.
• Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19.
