To form part of a professional team that interacts with Relationship Banking , ensuring that the compliance culture is embedded in business to robustly manage regulatory and reputational risks and that the relevant policies are applied within the assigned business environments.

Job Description

Stakeholder Relationship Management

• Build and maintain effective relations with all relevant stakeholders, through formal and informal interactions – with the objective of adding value to business.

• To work in conjunction with/as part of the broader Compliance team, including any specialized functions pertaining to the assigned business (e.g. Lending, Investments, Insurance, Financial Crime, etc.) in order to provide adequate support to the business and ensure that all agreed compliance deliverables have been attained.. This would also extend to representing the business unit at Group level compliance projects and occasionally act as advisor in Group Change projects that have a Compliance workstream

Accountability:  Assess the Control Environment

• Recommend changes and implement new and approved procedures and controls to ensure strict adherence to Risk and Compliance requirements – this includes recommendations in respect of amendments to internal procedures, controls and business rules due to changes in policy and regulation.

• Based on the standards defined by Group Compliance, identify the total universe of regulatory aspects applicable to the business unit and conduct a detailed impact assessment on regular basis determined and outlined by management The aforementioned impact assessment must be updated bi-annually.

• Draft the Compliance Risk Management Plan for all core and high risk regulatory requirements, indicating all relevant details pertaining to provisions, controls, etc.

Accountability:  Reporting

• Manage delivery of all monthly and quarterly compliance reports to the Compliance Line Manager and Business for discussion at the relevant governance forums.

Business Enablement:

• Ensure commercially sound Compliance guidance and support in respect of allocated regulatory requirements in a professional and helpful manner. Potential alternatives should be considered, with the view to finding solutions to ensure compliance as well as the continuation of business.

• Support our stakeholders by providing well researched opinions and articles.

• Actively participate in process reengineering, product development (through the New Product Approval (“NPA”) process) and other project meetings to provide subject matter expertise on regulatory requirements and contribute to the risks and issues logs for these meetings

Education

Bachelor Honours Degree: Law (Required)
