Specialist Metal Flow CH - South32, Richards Bay at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of this role is to ensure that departmental operations (scheduling / site metal flow drumbeat) are performed in a way to ensure the safety and production targets are achieved (e.g. - ingot casting machines OEE performance, hourly site metal flow target) with the contribution of a fully engaged workforce.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree/National Diploma in a Technical field;
• Minimum of 4-6 years’ work experience in production/Industrial area is essential;
• Computer literacy in MS Suite is essential;
• Knowledge and working experience on SAP is essential;
• The role requires a high level of social process capability, analytical skills, and application of technical systems knowledge.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provide the business context to your area of accountability in a meaningful way, which enables all employees to draw the linkage between their role accountabilities and the success of the Casthouse and Hillside.
• Hot metal, facility scheduling, including efficiently responding to changes & unplanned events.
• Effective co-ordination of the scheduling, furnace operations, transporters of hot metal from the reduction lines to the cast house to not impact the continuous casting of the cast lines.
• Effective management of final metal quality through scheduling and managing recycle metal through the process.
• Effective management of the Ladle Workshop to ensure the supply of clean, in spec ladles so as to not impact the drum beat metal flow from Reduction.
• Measure & report on agreed KPI’s / Facility OEE metric. Effective management of departmental systems.
• Provide input into metal flow logistics strategies, budgets, and plans as well as the improvement of workflow processes.
• Accurate month end processing and reporting.
• Create, maintain and enhance positive and productive relationships with own team, immediate manager, peers and other parts of the business.
• Motivate and inspire people to perform at their best by role modelling and coaching employees.
• Create and maintain a highly engaged and cohesive team.
• Seek feedback from internal customers and suppliers (of services as well as materials) to improve team performance.
