Responsibilities

• To operate and improve the SA SDG Hub's website, including the maintenance of both the front-end and back-end;
• The development, implementation, and improvement of new front-end features and the integration and operation of machine learning products as part of their daily work;
• To assist and support the team in building and improving new data science products, and act as a contact point for technical questions; and
• Identify relevant data sources for the SA SDG Hub's business needs, collecting structured and unstructured data and making this data available will also fall within their area of responsibility.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc/MSc Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, or a similar field with minimum two years applicable software development experience

Required Competencies (skills, Knowledge And Behavioural Attributes)

• Advanced experience in python, with experience in the Django web framework
• Experience in full-stack web development and profound knowledge of front-end technologies
• Experience with version control systems (such as Git)
• Experience with SQL and database management
• Familiarity with DevOps practices
• Experience with other programming languages (such as Java, C++, JavaScript)
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (NLP, clustering, decision tree learning) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Strong team collaboration and communication skills
• Strong ability to work independently and take initiative
