Sr Research Analyst I at IHS Markit

As a key member of the Global Asset team, the Sr Research Analyst will play a leading role in ensuring best in class Asset information is provided to service both internal and external IHSM customers. Location is negotiable, however, the successful applicant will work to UK time zone to ensure optimal coverage across the team.

Your Role

Supervision of a team of research analysts in providing timely and accurate research & analysis:

• Lead projects
• Workload distribution
• Weekly staff meetings
• Ensuring that client deliverables are of the highest quality and completed according to schedule
• Analyst training and skill development

Other Duties

• Perform operational and financial research on the portfolios of major refining and chemical companies. Transform that research into clear and compelling insight
• Support activities of senior researchers by producing quick-turnaround analysis and research for publications, consulting projects, and client presentations
• Understanding refinery and chemical trends and relating them to companies to assess their performance. Monitor company websites, annual reports, SEC filings etc
• Respond to research-related questions from clients by working in a highly collaborative fashion; requires learning the roles and expertise of others on research teams, seeking out help from other colleagues, become expert on our research products and client request procedures
• Gain knowledge and skills by actively contributing to the above listed activities, pursing activities/work in various disciplines, and staying abreast of current/hot topics.
• Update IHS Chemical ChemAssets database to reflect changes. Efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential since data changes will go live to clients daily.
• Organize research material for quality control and to back-up database changes.
• Collecting and analyzing financial information of refining and chemical companies. Assess trends, key trigger points and link them to company’s strategic intent. Review internal IHS data sources and work on in-house models.

• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills, Excellent English language skills (verbal, reading, written)
• Good knowledge of MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and ability to use effectively including familiarity with interrogating relevant databases
• Organization and problem-solving skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Must be flexible with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all co-workers, must be capable of working independently
• First degree and/or second degree and/or 5+ years relevant country or industry experience
