Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting. The following position has become available for a Sales Assistant within the garden centre, based in Rosebank, Cape Town. The purpose of this position is to maximize the sales of the Company’s nursery range of products through effective displays maintenance of sales areas and assistance to customers in a helpful and friendly manner, offering advise as and when required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides excellent, professional customer service at all times, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
Assists customers with purchases by advising or sourcing relevant advice from horticultural personnel.
Loads customers trolleys with their purchase and guides them to the till points and assist the cashier with capturing the correct code/price of products.
After payment, carefully loads purchases into the customers vehicle, ensuring that all trolleys are returned to the trolley areas as per seasonal operational requirements.
Responsible for maintenance of a demarcated area of the Nursery in a clean and tidy condition at all times
Maintains all plants in the demarcated area in a clean, healthy, and saleable condition.
Brings all poor-quality plants to the attention of the Nursery Sales Supervisor / Horticulturist.
Assists with the correct labelling of plants and packs them in their correct sales areas.
Prepares areas for new stock.
Ensures that sales areas are always kept neat and tidy and plants are effectively displayed.
Assists with annual stock take.

REQUIREMENTS
A National Senior Certificate (NQF level 4) (essential)
A Diploma in Horticulture (essential)
Grade 12 (essential)
Nursery Assistant experience for at least 1 Year (essential)
