An appropriate Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc/BVMCh or equivalent qualification) recognised by the South African Veterinary Council; Compulsory registration as a Veterinarian with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC); A minimum of 1 year post qualification experience; A valid (Code B or higher) driving license.
Key Performance Areas
Management of the State Veterinary area according to all the relevant legislation, policies and prescripts; Manage the prevention of the introduction and spread of controlled and non-controlled diseases according to Act 35 of 1984; Ensure provision of primary animal health care to owners of animals with specific emphasis on owners of designated groups;
Facilitate and control exports of animals and animal products according to national and international requirements; Implementation of remedial and control actions if export requirements are not met; Provision of training, development and awareness programs (extension and outreach services) to communities with regards to Veterinary Services, Record keeping and reporting of activities and export data as required.
