Storeman at Life Healthcare

• A vacancy exists for a Storeman based at Life Groenkloof Hospital reporting to the Catering Manager. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of the department and be part of the dynamic team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality.

Critical Outputs
Stock ordering

• Place timely orders for food, beverages, disposables, and catering supplies according to hospital demand and approved supplier lists.

Goods receiving

• Check deliveries against purchase orders, verify quality, expiry dates, and compliance with hospital standards.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle bulk supplies safely

Stock issuing

• Distribute catering stock to wards, kitchens, and dining areas using requisition forms and proper documentation.

Inventory control

• Maintain accurate stock records, monitor usage trends, and prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Strong ability to count, reconcile, and record stock.
• Efficient stockroom layout, labeling, and documentation

FIFO rotation

• Ensure “First In, First Out” principles are applied to minimize waste and maintain food safety.

Waste reduction

• Track spoilage, report discrepancies, and implement measures to reduce losses.

Supplier liaison

• Communicate with vendors regarding deliveries, shortages, and quality issues.

Compliance

• Follow hospital procurement policies, HACCP standards, and health & safety regulations.

Requirements

• Grade 12
• At least 2 years’ experience in catering services in any hospital will be an advantage
• Knowledge of infection control, health and safety procedures is essential
• Ability to work shifts according to the operational requirements of the hospital
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with stock management systems, spreadsheets, and requisition software will be an advantage
