    Strategy Delivery Lead: Environmental Programme

    Minimum Requirements

    • The Strategy Delivery Lead should be highly structured, focused, logical, leads teams/ people by example, pays attention to detail, focuses on building functioning and efficient management systems, empathetic, inspirational, and with a commitment to excellence.
    • An advanced qualification in environmental science, or a suitably-related discipline, and/ or an exceptional track record and experience of operational delivery
    • At least 10 years, or equivalent in-depth, experience in managing complex multi-dimensional teams, programmes and projects
    • Highly structured work approach with strong coordination and administrative management capabilities
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal and management skills
    • A good understanding of the broad range of work undertaken by WWF and knowledge of the relevant institutional landscape in South Africa.
    • Evidence of working effectively within teams, building and participating in them (either as a leader or as team member), and drawing the best out of people
    • Operational excellence with solid experience in business process optimisation and financial systems
    • A demonstrated ability to work independently and without daily supervision and guidance
    • Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal
    • Strong relationship building and problem resolution skills

    Duties and Responsibilities

    General:

    • Establish and maintain ways of working that build greater strategic cohesion, alignment and integration across the various place-based programmes and thematic areas of expertise
    • Establish and maintain efficient ways of working that drive excellence in project- and programme management across Environmental Programme
    • Work with the enabling functions of Finance & Business Support to ensure internal operational systems and processes are effective and efficient.
    • Establish and maintain an Annual Cycle that provides a structured way to align strategic direction, plan resources and capacities, measure and report impact, and learn and adapt strategies and plans (i.e. a structured Annual cycle for Monitoring Evaluation & Learning (MEL) that links to Strategic plans, workplans and resource & budget plans)
    • Drive the integration and adoption of ESSF standards in our work & oversee reporting to WWF network
    • Provide policies, tools and training in support of Programme operations
    • Support the development, implementation, management, compliance and reporting of specific large, complex projects (especially Public Sector Partnerships (PSP)
    • Support complex budget development processes for the Environmental Programme unit and specific large, complex projects (e.g. involving multi-thematic teams; regional initiatives, or PSP processes).
    • Lead the development of an annual workplan and business plan for the Environmental Programme Unit.

    Staff management:

    • Deploy and manage staff in support of Programme delivery (e.g. administrative, finance and operational staff)
    • Support appropriate staff development and mentorship

    Other:

    Perform further duties as specified by the Head of Programme, but including:

    • external WWF network responsibilities on behalf of WWF South Africa at the behest of the Head of Programme direct operational oversight of programmes or portfolios in need
    • manage knowledge sharing, learning and development within the unit.
    • undertake pre-agreed administrative and management tasks as required by the organization.
    • work until the job is done
