Structural Engineer– Pietermaritzburg (REF PMB0082) at JG AFRIKA

JG Afrika is looking to employ a Structural Engineer for the Structures Division for their Pietermaritzburg offices.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of a B Sc. or B Eng. degree in Civil Engineering.
• Must be a Professionally Registered Engineer with ECSA (Pr Eng.)

Experience

• Must have a minimum of 8 years relevant post-graduation experience in a consulting engineering environment including design, and contract documentation.
• Experience in bridge, seismic and temporary works design would be an advantage.
• Must have a thorough working knowledge of relevant design codes. Experience with international design codes would be an advantage.
• Must be competent with modern structural analysis, design and drawing software, including AutoDesk products, Prokon, MS Office and MS Project.

Job Profile / Skills
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the design of predominantly structural related work. Other key responsibilities will include, inter alia:

• Completion of technical designs.
• Compilation of tender documentation in various formats.
• Management of projects and technical teams.
• Leading projects in terms of overall project management.
• Mentorship of junior technical staff in terms of design & engineering practices
• Keeping up to date with software and design tools to assist with design
• Must be able to lead projects and manage other team members.
• Must have good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• A valid driver’s licence is essential.
• Must be prepared to work in the field
