Description
The superintendent manages the implementation and delivery of a small / lower complexity project or section of a large project against safety, time, quality and cost standards and has a definite emphasis on the practical, technical and commercial management of a project. Fulfills the link between the project manager and operational team. The superintendent is responsible for all on-site activities, including organising work and making sure all key materials are delivered on time
RESPONSIBILITIES
Business / Functional Management
- Execute project responsibilities in line with organisational strategy, in order to achieve set goals
- Report to Project Manager on operational and project performance
Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management
- Provide inputs to estimating department on tender response structuring, site visits. May be involved with finalisationon an ad hoc basis
Risk Management & Compliance, incl. ESG responsibility
- Be fully aware of the content and impact of new contracts i.e. general conditions of contract, special conditions, specifications, drawings; be aware of relevant legislation relating to the contract - as related to site operational execution and governance
Stakeholder Management (internal / external)
- Maintain working relationship with head office structures with regards to support and professional services (HR, Safety, Quality, Plant, Survey, Commercial, Finance, IT, QS), in support of site delivery
Operations & Project Management
- Responsible for project execution on a specific site - within budget, scope, timelines, productivity and SHEQ standards
Requirements
QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Project Management qualification would be advantageous
- Management qualification will be advantageous
- Concrete, Drains and Earthworks Technical Courses
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3 years relevant experience in respect of managing sections of a construction project as section engineer / site engineer
- Must have practical and hands-on experience in the management of foremen, labour and plant resources
- Experience in planning and setting up construction projects, preferably at section engineer
- Managerial: At least 2 years experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a construction environment, at chargehand / supervisory level
