Superintendent Maintenance at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

• The purpose of this role is to minimize downtime of equipment and machinery, as well as the care of plant and support equipment, through the direction of a technical support team.    

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree / BTECH / National Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining of which 3 years should have been as a minimum carrying a 2.9.2 appointment; although not essential preference will be given to candidates with a
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Electrical / Mechanical and appointed as a 2.13.3.1 Subordinate Engineer.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Tracks, analyses and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance;
• Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement;
• Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the responsible maintenance section;
• Recommends equipment modification for upgrades;
• Develops and maintains preventative maintenance programs;
• Sets priorities for projects and work orders;
• Ensure compliance to the MHS Act, regulation;
• Draft, review and maintenance of all identified relevant standards applicable per Operation;
• Ensure that audit and control processes are in place;
• Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness, coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
