Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or in a related field
• At least five (5) years’ experience in software development or innovation, of which two (2) years in a team leadership role
• Strong background in software development, including PHP, Java, or relevant technologies
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle) and web services/API development
• Knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies
• Familiarity with Open-Source CMS frameworks (Joomla, WordPress, Drupal)
• Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to align the team with organizational objectives. Drive innovation initiatives and keep up with industry trends.
• Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and train development team members. Conduct performance evaluations and foster a collaborative work culture.
• Project Oversight: Plan, manage, and oversee software development projects. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions within budget.
• Innovation Initiatives: Research and implement emerging technologies to drive innovation. Promote creativity and continuous improvement in development processes.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with academic staff, administrative personnel, and senior management. Maintain partnerships with vendors and technology experts.
• Resource Management: Efficiently allocate and manage departmental resources, including budgets and personnel.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure software development activities adhere to organizational policies and industry standards. Implement best practices for quality control and documentation.
