Systems Engineer: Platforms at Capitec Bank

Purpose Statement

• Responsible to engineer, mature and ensure the efficient operations of the Technology Platforms product offering within Capitec Bank through executing the deployment, testing, tuning, optimisation, repairing and maintenance of the server and storage product offering.

Experience
MINIMUM:

• 2+ years’ experience in Server/Storage Engineering and Administration
• 1+ years’ experience in an IT operational support capacity

IDEAL:

• 3+ years’ experience in Server and Storage Engineering and Administration
• 2+ years’ experience in supporting Container Environments
• 2+ years’ experience working and supporting AWS workloads

Qualifications (Minimum)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology - Programming or Information Technology - Systems Engineering

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology - Programming or Information Technology - Systems Engineering

Knowledge
MINIMUM:

• Docker Containers 
• Application architecture
• IT systems development processes (SDLC lifecycle)
• Business continuity
• IT Operations
• Systems Engineering and Administration (Linux – RHEL preferred)
• CICD processes, principles, and tools
• Cloud deployments
• Internal Developer Platforms
• Knowledge of infrastructure concepts, technologies, and patterns. (SDLC, IaC)
• Experience working with scripting and provisioning tools like Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation or equivalent

IDEAL:

• Networking fundamentals
• Automation and scripting (Powershell and Python preferred)
• Database management systems and software
• Server and Storage performance and capacity analysis
• Cloud services(AWS preferred)
