Main Purpose of Job

To support the Tax Management Consulting leadership to effectively manage the DESMAT business. Focus on the management and delivery of client engagements, as well as sales and practice development. Develop high-performing people and teams, leading and supporting them to make an impact that matters, and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service. Focus on the management and delivery of ongoing client engagements, as well as sales and practice development. Managing and maintaining relationships with DESMAT clients and prospective clients. Manage all aspects of the DESMAT business, including contracting, the financial aspects, WIP and debtor management and management of budget and pipeline Managing the maintenance of the solution (e.g. managing changes / upgrades to the solution. Management of external and internal service providers. Management of Global and interfirm relationships

Specialized Technical Capabilities

Compliance and Planning

•          Leads processes and identifies sustainable planning opportunities to help clients mitigate risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines, and realize business goals
•          Drives and manages the entire compliance and planning process as a whole
•          Identifies potential planning opportunities or opportunities for other service lines
•          Demonstrates ability to quickly identify risk areas and advise clients on ways to mitigate risks
•          Designs, proposes, and works with clients to implement planning strategies that are consistent with client’s strategic goals
•          Incorporates legislative changes and implications into client planning and discussions
•          Recognizes the need to connect with the right subject matter experts (SMEs) on technical topics that are beyond their level of expertise
•          Demonstrates excellent knowledge of SA Tax rules and Laws

Process and Data Flow, Design, Alignment, and Improvement

•          Demonstrates advanced knowledge of spreadsheet optimization
•          Engages with key client personnel to ensure implementations are achieved
•          Drives continual development of solution and improvement of approach to clients
•          Leads the client working sessions and discussions designed to help highlight areas of improvement and time savings for the company
•          Applies expertise to design and/or recommends tools and approaches to automate and streamline key processes and tax sensitize pertinent tax data from source systems
•          Delivers strategic input into global vendor relationships based on project experiences and key strategic priorities

Tax Data Analytics

•          Interprets tax data related to business intelligence and performance, implementation and support of applications, infrastructure and technologies to gather and forecast future trends
•          Assesses the scope and resources required of various analytics projects and works with clients to define necessary resources
•          Manages client relations to ensure that expectations for dashboards are met and fulfilled
•          Develops teams and analytics practice in order to elevate analytics capabilities
•          Identifies potential opportunities for (Tax Management Consulting) TMC and other service lines to sell engagements

Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience required

Required

• CA (SA) or Information Systems or BSc Computer Science qualification/degree or B Com Accounting

Preferred

• Project Management qualification
• Tax qualification
•  7 years’ tax  experience 3 years in a management role
