Overview
A dedicated and highly skilled Technical Manager with expertise in animal feed safety products used in animal feed mills. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of animal feed production through the implementation of KEMIN product solutions and services. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a technical service team, assist in the development of innovative products and services, and contribute to the advancement of animal feed safety in the industry.
This position will support, promote, and grow Kemin feed safety business within Sub-Sahara Africa and will therefore require significant travel within and outside the borders of South Africa. The position will be responsible for reviewing and providing technical reporting and support to the Account Managers, Marketing Team and their customers.
Other key focus areas will be leading the technical support team, provide training and developing technical literature, recognising customer needs, coordinating trials and programmes for the various CLS (Customer Laboratory Services) functions and then management of the related processes. Close cooperation with various functions including Sales, Marketing, Laboratory and Product Application is essential in order to drive our service delivery.

Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Lead and manage a team of technical support specialists in the development and maintenance of KEMIN feed safety products, and services ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance.
- Product and Service Development: Collaborate with the research and development teams to drive the creation and improvement of animal feed safety products, considering market needs and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality department quality control procedures, including product testing, validation, and compliance checks, to ensure that all products meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with local and international regulations related to animal feed safety and ensure that all products adhere to these standards.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to account managers and customers, including animal feed mills and raw production facilities, to optimize the use of safety products and services and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales and marketing, to develop technical documents, and educational materials for customers.
- Research and Innovation: Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in animal feed safety and initiate or participate in research projects that lead to innovative product and service development.
- Training and Education: Develop training programs for internal teams and external customers to ensure proper handling, application, and benefits of animal feed safety products and services.
- Reporting: Assume ultimate responsibility for the compilation, expert interpretation, and dissemination of customer CLS reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Science, Food Safety, or a related technical field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
- Extensive experience in animal feed safety products and services, with a track record of success.
- In-depth knowledge of feed mill operations, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to animal feed safety.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical services teams and achieve strategic objectives.
- Willingness to stay current in the field and adapt to evolving industry trends and regulations.
