Technical Manager – Fruit Industry – Paarl at Agricruitment Limited

Requirements:

•  A relevant BSc- / MSc-Agric degree or appropriate agricultural qualification.
•  2-5 years relevant citrus industry experience essential.
•  A self-driven and trustworthy individual who can operate independently and under pressure.
•  An individual with strong inter-personal, communication and administrative skills.
•  A professional individual with a drive to deliver an exceptional technical service to all current and future customers/growers.
•  The individual will also be required to travel both domestically and internationally from time to time.

Responsibilities:

•  Regular technical visits providing advice to all associated growers to ensure the optimal in field performance of all plant material.
•  Provide sound technical advice to growers in need thereof (pruning, tree manipulations, irrigation, fertilization etc.).
•  Develop protocols for optimal production on specific citrus and other cultivar varieties.
•  Host open-days and technical workshops.
•  Build and maintain strong relationships with growers and partners.
•  Coordinate and execute all pre – and post – harvest trials.
•  Coordinate and execute the upkeep and relevant tasks associated with the private trial sites.
•  Data capturing and evaluation for all trials in RSA.
•  Auditing of protected variety plantings on commercial farms.
•  Close coordination with the plant material supply chain, nurseries, and prospective growers.
