    Technical Specialist ( Implementation Science) - Gauteng

    Main purpose of the job :  

    Provide strategic direction, technical assistance, Lead the design, implementation, monitoring for fidelity (processes), quality, evaluations of processes and outcomes during and at end of the project. Guided by data – identify best practices/lessons learnt for packaging for rapid scale up and dissemination.

    • Develop protocols  including sample size and power  calculations for research and or non-research (evaluations) in collaboration with head of programmes and the Chief Scientific Officer .
    • Submit for reviews and approval to heads of programs, CDC scientific office, ethics before implementation.
    • Collate questions and or propose appropriate quantitative/qualitative questions for operational research in the course of implementation of the programme for optimal programme delivery.
    • Develop data analysis plans and complex data analysis for decision making.
    • Undertake  data reviews and assessments  to ensure that implementation is per guidelines/workplans as agreed by funder, national and international protocols.
    • Assist in the design and piloting of the sustainability component of the programme.
    • Ensure that proper procedures (ethics, consent) are applied in all research projects.
    • Maintain collaboration with local and international program evaluation/research groups.
    • Supervise, mentor and contribute to postgraduate students at the request of team lead and principles.
    • Organise training in technical writing for scientific and packaging of best practices for RTC staff Research dissemination.
    • Assist/Coordinate across the  program the development of abstracts for scientific submissions (poster, oral).
    • Write and contribute to scientific publications, including background and methods sections of manuscripts for peer reviewed journals.
    • Write abstracts and be capable of presenting posters or oral presentations at appropriate conferences.
    • Interpret and disseminate best practices and findings internally and to universities.
    • Interpret and disseminate findings to policy makers and implementers such as Department of Health, communities and media.
    • Identify best practices – from programs trend analysis for knowledge packaging and dissemination Good Clinical Practice and ethical research.
    • Develop and maintain information and informed consent per GCP guidelines, when appropriate.
    • Monitor data capture, client enrolment, data analysis and ensure compliance to protocol and SOPs.
    • Assist in identifying the need for submission of reporting, applications and other documents to the Human Research Ethics Committee New Business/Research  Development.

    Requirements

    •  Medical degree/MSc/PhD – Epidemiology & Biostatistics and or Health economics
    • 5 plus years’ experience in HIV and disease programs, health research, continuous quality improvement, complex evaluations, competent in data analysis – using STATA, R, Python, SAS as applicable.
