Technician (Mechanical) at Omnia (Pty) LTD

Overview    

To provide technical and functional support to maintenance team and continuously improve plant reliability and ensure legal compliance through implementation of world class maintenance practices. 

Qualifications    

• BTech in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
• NP/NHD in Mechanical Engineering
• Red Seal Trade Certificate – (Fitting) - May be an added advantage

Experience    

• Minimum 5 years’ Experience in a Maintenance Environment as a Technician
• Major Shutdown planning and execution
• Maintenance strategies and tactics of rotating equipment 
• SANS 347 & PER compliance 

Duties    

• Safety & Legal Compliance:
• Ensure Statutory compliance according to OHS Act
• Contractor safety management during onsite construction work

Technical and functional support to maintenance execution team:

• Equipment failure investigation
• Participation in RCFAs led by Reliability team
• Liaise with external vendors and internal workshop to ensure quality and timeous repairs and refurbishment of rotable spares
• Assist maintenance execution team with execution of major equipment repairs
• Support maintenance team in improving maintenance KPIs

Shutdown planning and execution:

• Development of shutdown scope of work
• Liaise with the planning department to ensure effective planning and scheduling of shutdown maintenance activities
• Contractor technical evaluations
• Development and reviewing of Quality Control Plans
• Onsite contractor management 

Improvement of maintenance system:

• Drive development and improvement of equipment maintenance plans
• Drive updating of equipment spares list (BOM)

Budget Control / Cost Management:

• Support Mechanical Manager in developing maintenance budget
• Approval of purchase requisitions
