Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) - Engineer (Bakubung Platinum Mine - Rustenburg at Wesizwe Platinum Ltd

Role Description

• The TMM Engineer will be responsible for managing and coordinating the TMM section to ensure safe installation, proper operation, running and maintenance
• for optimum availability at the lowest cost according to operational requirements and engineering practice. The role reports to the Mine Manager.

Education and Experience Requirements

• National Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Heavy Current).
• Government Certificate of Competency Mines & Works.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Engineering field of which 3 years was as an appointed engineer on Trackless Mobile Machinery, with 3 years
• Post GCC Surface/Underground experience.
• Project management experience will be advantageous.
• Management Development Programme or equivalent – will be advantageous

Job Requirements

• Carry out Engineers’ duties as per the requirements of the MHSA with operations on the mines.
• Provide assistance in formulating maintenance requirements for equipment with OEM’s.
• Take legal responsibility for labour and machinery in this section
• Manage this area to obtain optimum machine, plant, equipment and engineering availability to achieve production targets
• Develop, implement and monitor adherence to engineering standards and legislative requirements, taking corrective action where necessary
• Provide technical consulting to the Section Manager
• Allocate resources in consultation with relevant Section Heads
• Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and systems
• Drive and implement action plans to achieve the mine strategy and business plans
• Plan, design and operate the mining processes both underground and on the surface
• Set and prepare financial budget for the section
• Ensure the effective management and control of human resources for optimal utilization
• Identify cost drivers and minimise maintenance and operating costs for the mine.
• Provide information to management with reference to planned maintenance activities.
• Liaise with procurement department and suppliers on maintenance material requirements.
• Work according to Mine Health and Safety Act, Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done.
• Formulate and/or revise best practices and standards for the maintenance and operation of equipment on the mine.
• Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and re-start of equipment.

Skills Required

• Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English
• Sound planning, leading and organizational abilities
• Computer Literate - MS Office Suite
• Identify discrepancies regarding the compliance to agreements
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance principles and systems (SAP System)
• Basic knowledge of financial systems
• Familiar with concepts of project planning and scheduling, including project management software
• Understanding of Risk Management systems will be an advantage (ISOMETRIX)
• Goal orientated and have pro-active problem solving approach in anticipating problem a
• Ability to work with a team and with minimal supervision will be an advantage
• Know and understand the disciplinary procedures of the Company.
