    Trading Systems Developer

    Job Description

     

     

    Africa Technology CIB provides technology support to the organisation's Corporate and Investment banking sectors.  Activities are grouped into three areas, namely Markets, Corporate and Investment Banking. The Trade Management IT team is responsible for the development, enhancement and maintenance of the 3rd party trading system (Front Arena) and connected components. This includes all Business-As-Usual (BAU) work, projects, addressing first line queries and production issues.

     

    Key accountabilities: Delivery and Support

    • Support and extend Front Arena, working on assigned tasks across the entire lifecycle by assisting in defining requirements with various stakeholders, developing and testing (including writing unit tests), deployment and documentation.

    • Follow the change governance and control process in place for deployments and work effectively with the application management team from inception through to delivery of a solution into production.

    • Develop strong knowledge of financial markets and products in order to perform technical analysis to resolve issues and deliver on work items.

    • Understand the business areas, what they do and how they interact with the system. Understand the vendor and in-house systems to deliver the best suited solutions.

    • Keeping up to date with technological developments in the market and within the vendor in order to leverage off these to provide better solutions and service to the business areas we support.

    Education and Experience Required

    • At least NQF-Level 6, preferably in a numerate subject (i.e. Computer Science, Maths, Engineering, etc.)

    • Min 3 years’ development experience

    • Solid experience with specific coding / scripting languages e.g. C#, Python, Java, JavaScript

    • Knowledge of current and upcoming banking trends and related technologies

    • Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively with different levels of users and stakeholders

    • Strong communication skills

    Knowledge & Skills:

    • Understanding of the business context and requirements

    • Ability to think in terms of strategic business outcomes and results

    • Knowledge of development support tools (Git, Stash, Confluence)

    • Knowledge of SQL (admin and development)

    • Experience with dynamically typed object-oriented programming languages e.g. C#, Java and Python

    • Arena Data Flow Language development skills (Preferred)

    • Understanding or experience with Front Arena and FIS Components (Preferred)

    • Experience with Trading platforms Front Arena, Calypso, Murex or similar experience would be advantageous

    • Ability to deal with difficult stakeholders constructively

    • Must be able to cope in a stressful environment

    • Capable of working individually and within a team where the situation dictates

    • Must be able to work and deliver working software in an Agile environment

    Bachelor's Degree: Information Technology
