Ultrasonographer at Lake, Smit& Partners

Purpose:

• To perform all examinations with high-quality patient care and the highest quality imaging.

Task and Responsibilities:

• To perform ultrasound examinations and operate imaging equipment on a daily basis in different and demanding environments with the unpredictable workloads.
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy for positioning techniques and care.
• Safely operate the equipment.
• Understand the request form to correctly scan and image the area of disease.
• Understand and provide appropriate authorization coding and fee structure.
• Understand normal anatomy with the ability to recognize abnormalities and irregularities and indicate these to the radiologist.
• Routinely perform QA tests daily and maintain quality control records under guidance from superiors.
• Understand the transfer process through PACS and RIS to ensure a smooth workflow.
• Able to troubleshoot and understand and recognize equipment and imaging malfunctions.
• Follow all safety procedures and optimise imaging techniques.
• Constantly keep up to date with new procedures for best image quality and patient care.
• Ensure the ultrasound rooms and surrounds are kept neat and clean at all times and report any unsafe working conditions within the department to the Line Manager. 
• Participate in mandatory training and actively provide Continuous Professional Development with an up to date record.
• Be guided by the policies and procedures to ensure an orderly and timely workflow process.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and work in partnership with other team members.
• Develop rapport and builds constructive working relationships with key people.
• Share knowledge and work cohesively with a team.
• To be on a rotational roster for daily shifts/venues and Saturday morning duties.
• 40 hour week and willing to stay after the duty to assist colleagues and in case of an emergency situation.

• Excellent time management arrives on time and willing to stay late to assist with fit ins and emergency scans.
• Good interpersonal skills to work with individuals and as a team.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.

Experience and Qualifications:

• 1-7years + as a qualified sonographer
• National Diploma/BTech
• Registered with HPCSA.
• CPD compliant
