    Vehicle Technician, Knysna

    Job Description

    • Our client, a well-established automotive dealership in Knysna, is seeking a qualified and motivated Vehicle Technician, to join their dynamic service team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities who is passionate about delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail.     Minimum requirements

    • Matric
    • Qualified Motor Mechanic / Automotive Technician Qualification
    • Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience (preferably Ford experience)
    • Previous dealership or automotive retail experience
    • Brand-specific training certificates (where applicable)
    • Proficient in the following computer programs
    • Computer-Aided Diagnostic (CAD) systems
    • Dealer Management Systems (DMS)
    • Microsoft Office
    • Evolve and Drive
    • Proficient in manufacturer diagnostic software and electronic diagnostic equipment
    • Comfortable working with digital vehicle diagnostic and reporting platforms
    • Fluent in Afrikaans and English
    • Valid drivers' license and own vehicle

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Perform vehicle diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and dealership standards
    • Conduct fault-finding and accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues
    • Complete routine maintenance services, inspections, and preventative maintenance procedures
    • Carry out warranty repairs in line with manufacturer requirements and policies
    • Perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and ensure vehicles meet quality standards before delivery to customers
    • Use diagnostic equipment and specialised tools to identify and resolve vehicle faults
    • Test drive vehicles when necessary to verify concerns and confirm repairs
    • Complete job cards, service reports, and repair documentation accurately and timeously
    • Ensure all work is performed efficiently while meeting productivity and quality targets
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
    • Adhere to health and safety regulations, company policies, and manufacturer standards
    • Inspect vehicles and recommend additional repairs or maintenance where required
    • Collaborate with Service Advisors and other workshop personnel to ensure excellent customer service
    • Assist with the training and development of apprentices and junior technicians where required
    • Stay up to date with manufacturer training, technical bulletins, and industry developments
    • Properly care for and maintain workshop equipment, tools, and diagnostic systems
    • Ensure customer vehicles are handled with care and returned in a clean and roadworthy condition
    • Participate in ongoing technical training and skills development programmes
    • Support the dealership in achieving workshop efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction objectives
