Warehouse Manager - Warehouse Department - Gauteng (171195) at Diplomat Distributors

Job Purpose:

• To effectively manage the warehousing function of the business.
• This role also needs to implement process innovation initiatives in operations that will ensure continual improvement and improved cost management.
• Critical to this role is the implementation of good governance and ensure compliance to policies and standards. Due to the large staff contingent, good people management practices play a vital role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing the warehouse budget.
• Ensure cost savings targets are met .
• Manage efficiencies to ensure optimal spent for warehouse activities.
• Assist in ensuring effective utilisation of storage space.
• Ensure efficient warehouse processes are in place so as to drive customer satisfaction.
• Understand the business of the customer to ensure operational capacity to exceed expectations.
• Develop and implement initiatives to drive organisational excellence.
• Ensure a safe and healthy workplace at all times.
• Manage projects related to optimisation and implementation of best practise.
• Manage and ensure compliance to standard operating procedures.
• Drive quality compliance in the warehouse operations.
• Oversee and manage the receiving process to minimise damage to stock.
• Oversee and manage the warehouse operation and implement best processes and practice.
• Oversee and manage the outbound loading including IBT and internal customers and implement best processes and practice.
• Conduct effective inventory management.
• Be the subject matter expert in warehousing and distribution and assist to advise colleagues.
• Oversee and manage packing and stacking methods on the warehouse.
• Employee management.
• Ensure discipline in place.
• Manage the flow of packing and stacking of product and implement systems to minimise damage to stock .
• Oversee the regular checking of equipment to ensure functionality.
• Compliance with Good Warehouse Practices and quality management.
• Adhere to company's Health and Safety rules, laws and regulations.
• Stay abreast of latest developments in the industry.
• Conduct training needs analysis for operational employees and implement training interventions.
• Take responsibility for self-development through self-study, identification of learning opportunities.
• Track performance of the warehouse team against set KPIs, identify non-performers and recommend appropriate action.
• Build capacity within operational team to ensure support for sales initiatives are effective.
• Lead the warehouse team through continuous building of competence and implementation of high performance work systems and processes.

Position Requirements:

• Completed Matric or equivalent, accredited by SAQA or equivalent work experience.
• Completed Diploma in Logistics.
• Minimum of 5 - 7 years relevant warehousing experience within FMCG environment.
• Team supervision experience within the warehouse environment.
• Computer literacy (Intermediate MS Office skills).
• Must have SAP knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Good planning and organizing skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Must have a valid drivers license and own reliable vehicle.
