Wash Bay Assistant at Bidvest Tank Terminals

Job Advert Summary    

• Bidvest Tank Terminals is recruiting for a Wash Bay Assistant to join the Durban Operations team, to ensure safe and efficient bulk storage operations on a shift basis and effective operations. The candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

Minimum Requirements    

•  Grade 12 or equivalent (Maths and Science preferred)
•  Proficient at ABET level 1 (Assessment required)
•  Completion of required BTT operator L5 training
•  Minimum of 2 years BTT operational experience

Duties and Responsibilities    

•  Adhere to BTT policies and procedures in all aspects of operations & SHEQ
• Plan and execute the timeous washing of hoses and the pressure testing of hoses
• Prepare all necessary equipment for the hose trailer for use at the berth
• Ensure that the berth lines and shipping equipment (Hoses, Fittings, pig catchers) are in serviceable condition and are clean, report all defects to Wash Bay controller/Team leader/Supervisor
• Assist with tasks as directed by immediate superior
• Ensure that the wash bay/berths/hose storage areas are kept clean and tidy
• Adhere to operational procedures
• Assist with the pressure testing hoses
• Report on all hoses to Wash Bay Controller
• Assist on site if required
• Carry out all laboring activities on site and berth as instructed – carrying hoses, connecting hoses, inserting, and removing pigs as directed
• Assist with the cleaning of separators, bund floors, as directed
• Connecting of shipping hoses for loading and offloading vessels as directed and supervised by Wash Bay controller/Team leader/Supervisor
• Assist with the general housekeeping as necessary

• Available and willing to work shifts in  accordance with the BTT requirements
• Good communication skills – both verbal and written
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, and operating procedures
• Ability to work well within a team
• Physically fit in the accordance with the man job spec
