Welder - Middelburg at Omnia (Pty) LTD

Overview    

• The purpose of this role is to assemble tanks and structures.

Qualifications    

• Grade 12
• Professional Welding Certificate

Experience    

• 3 years demonstrated working experience as a Welder.
• 2 years demonstrated working experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)

Advantageous Requirements:

• Proven experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, callipers etc.)

Duties    

• Manufacture tanks and structures
• Ensure the section edges fit properly and bolt or weld them together
• Test it for leaks and weak spots
• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

Regulate appropriate welding equipment

• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

Adhere to SHERQ principles

• Use the correct PPE
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Material productivity

• Regular inspection and maintenance of tanks and structures
