Assist with the planning and execution of national and international field surveys under the guidance of experienced specialists.
Support the application of WET-Services Series and various habitat survey techniques, including the use of GPS, aerial photography, sonar imagery, and topographical maps.
Learn to identify and classify soils using the South African Soil Classification System (2018);
Participate in fieldwork, including working in remote or challenging environments.
Observe and support the identification and delineation of wetlands using the South African Practical Field Procedure for Identification and Delineation of Wetlands and Riparian Areas (DWAF, 2005);
Assist in conducting wetland and soil impact assessments as part of broader project teams.
Contribute to sensitivity analyses and the development of environmental recommendations.
Assist in compiling scientific reports and preparing data for review by senior team members or submission to relevant authorities.
Support wetland and soil delineation activities under supervision.
Contribute to Land Use, Land Capability, and Agricultural Assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
BSc. degree (Honours/MSc preferred) in Environmental Sciences/ Soil Science.
Knowledge of Agricultural Compliance Statements, Land Use and Land Capability Assessments.
Knowledge of vegetation, AIP management and rehabilitation would be advantageous.
