Workshop Assistant at Bilnor Staffing Solutions

• Bilnor Staffing Solutions' client in the engineering sector is looking for a Workshop Assistant to join their team for permanent positions in Middelburg, MP.  This is a urgent vacancy.

• The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, physically fit, safety-conscious, and capable of working in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Fitters, Turners, and other artisans with daily workshop activities.
• Support the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and components.
• Operate basic workshop machinery and hand tools under supervision.
• Assist with measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling, and fitting tasks.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly.
• Load, unload, and move materials and components as required.
• Conduct basic inspections of equipment and report defects or safety concerns.
• Adhere to company safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Assist with stock control, tool management, and material handling.
• Perform any other workshop-related duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

• Fitter & Turner qualification, apprenticeship, or relevant mechanical engineering training advantageous.
• 1–3 years' experience in a mechanical, engineering, manufacturing, or mining workshop environment.
• Basic understanding of fitting, turning, machining, and workshop practices.
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings will be advantageous.
• Competent in the use of hand tools, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.
• Must be willing to work overtime when required.
